Historical aspect of the New York City

The history of new can be referred back to the late 15th century. The first native people,to settle in New York, were the Lenape who were Algonquin people, who were hunters, fishers, and farmers between the rivers of Hudson and Delaware. In the 16th century, the Europeans continued to explore the religion. New Amsterdam was seized from Dutch by British in 1664, and given the name; New York City. In the next century, the population of New York grew more diverse and larger. The population included the immigrants from several parts of the world such as England, Netherlands, Germany and the slaves of Africa. As indicated by Dimanche, and Lepetic, New York City served the capital city of United States from the year 1785 to 1790. In the late 18th century, the city was hit by the revolutionary war and it served as a military base (20).However, in the early 18th century, the city recovered from the war and became one of the most important ports of the nation.

With time,Hiller reported that there were major improvements in infrastructure (376). Through the commissioner’s plan, an orderly and elaborate grid of streets was laid down and constructed. The city fully developed into the today’s city in the 20th century. Today, the city has more than 8 million people, who live in the five boroughs described above, of whom more than one third was born outside the United States. The city has a vibrant and diverse intellectual life, and has been maintained as the cultural capital of the United States.
